My husband and I have been dining with Shojin for over 8 years -- and not once have they never failed to exceed our expectations. The ambience is pristine, the aesthetic beautiful and elegant. All of the food is of the highest quality and as good as cuisine gets. What is probably the most invaluable part of this restaurant though is the staff, with an unparalleled level of hospitality and attentiveness. Shoutout to Chié, who has been serving us over the years with so much love and warmth. Time and time again you have made anniversaries, birthdays and romantic escapades so special. Many blessings to this incredible establishment! Whoever is reading this, Shojin is where it's at. Come dressed well, and make your reservations for the absolute best high end vegan dining experience!!

Amazing plant-based Japanese food. We got the tasting menu, and each item left us wanting more. Still, we left full and happy. The service was top notch, too.

My favorite restaurant in LA by far. While it was sad to let Shojin DTLA go, Shojin keeps thriving and innovating in its Culver City location. The new sushis and plates are as creative, flavorful, and healthy as always. The same high standards of superb quality in food, drinks and decor; outstanding customer service and memorable moments remain in place at Shojin Culver City. New lunch offerings such as protein bowls and the two main dishes (tempeh and crab cake) are superb and will keep me as a devote fan of Shojin.

Love love Shojin. Best vegan sushi ever. Romantic environment but also fun with a friend. Great service. Bring your appetite because it's filling. I want to return over and over to eat my way through the menu.

The food, service, and ambiance were amazing. We did the chefs 12 course tasting menu and every dish was perfectly prepared and expertly delivered. At the end of our culinary journey they even brought out a couple hibiscus teas for our long journey back to Orange County. 5 star all the way.

First time having vegan sushi and Shojin did not disappoint! Def on the higher price end, but all the dishes were so freshly prepared and delicious (none of the "fake" meat) - lots of mushroom, tofu and avocado options. Mushroom tempura is delicious for an app - so juicy! Crab hand roll was one of the best hand rolls I've had with an unami sauce. For rolls, we shared the Rainbow (veggie) roll and Dynamite roll - both were flavorful and had a nice finish to each bite! Servers were so kind and attentive. Lovely dining experience. For my first vegan sushi experience, I am so impressed and will be returning!

We had the most amazing time at Shojin! Made our reservation in advance with one of the most romantic tables in the back of the store. And the food, everything was perfect! Dynamite and the Dragon rolls are the best Ive ever had. So fabulous, I'm definitely considering going vegan!

I love Shojin. The food, the service, and the attention to details have never been beat in my book in the 10-years that I've been coming here. I spent a very special birthday with them recently and the staff was so amazing kind-they made it a treasured memory. I had "Taste of Gion" for dessert for the first time and loved how light and flavorful it was. Their food is always fresh with new flavors you won't see anywhere else. My favorites are the spicy baked scalloped roll (torched at the table; the mushrooms are soo good), Pirates of the Crunchy, and Purple Treasure (also torched). I'm also a fan of the kale salads they have most recently it was a yuzu-miso dressing and it was incredible. Their ramen is also top notch. I also really like their house made "cola"-it's a unique nuanced herbal flavor. The service is incredible and genuinely kind-always checking to make sure you are happy and comfy. They pay attention to little details like having a hook for your purse or that you have a fresh plate for different courses. Cute details will also pop up: like a cute little heart paper clip on the receipt and on their catering orders they had a cute origami star on the boxes. You leave feeling full, happier, and healthier. Thanks Shojin for the many special dinners!

Came in last Thursday at 6:30, it wasn't super busy so we didn't need a reservation but I've heard it gets pretty busy normally. The restaurant is very well decorated and had a nice atmosphere. The artwork was very nice and the lighting was perfect. We opted for the chef's omakase and two cocktails (spicy yuzu margarita and the okey dokey mule. Both were very good). The restaurant is all gluten free and vegan for those with allergies or dietary preferences. I am celiac and therefore gluten free but I'm not vegan. That said I really enjoyed this meal. Everything was very tasty and while you could tell it was meatless dishes, I didn't feel like anything was missing. The chef paid very close attention to flavor profiles and I was really impressed with everything on the menu. My favorite part was the rock "shrimp" skewers, orange "chicken" and the truffle miso soup. The service was very quick and the staff were very friendly. We didn't feel rushed but when we were done with our current dish they were quick to bring the next. This was a little more on the expensive side at 78$/per person for the omakase plus drinks but it was a good amount of food and delicious while being gluten free and vegan. While I'm more of a regular sushi fan this dinner was worth the visit and I would visit again and order my favorite dishes a la carte with a glass of wine.

First off, I'm not vegan, and their food is incredible! Great for vegan or non - vegan alike They focus on flavor profiles of the veggies and have amazing sauces. They don't really try to pretend to be meat, it's just a focus on the veggies with the heavy Japanese influence. We found street parking easily on a Saturday night. It's not in a crowded part of Culver City. The place is super clean with a touch less bathroom complete with self opening toilet with bidet! Interior is simple aesthetic and has great lighting. Staff is absolutely WONDERFUL. Very family-owned vibes and they make you feel so welcome. This is exactly the kind of establishment that needs to be protected and uplifted and supported. Everything I ate was so filling with amazing profiles. The baked scallop role and dynamite were torched table side which was really fun. Saturday night fever roll was probably my favorite because I loved the crunchies on top. Truffle ramen was perfection. I also loved the mushroom with yuzu and ponzu because I am a big fan of yuzu. The Japanese green tea is very authentic and the dessert of sesame ice cream with little cookies and matcha truffle was not too sweet, perfect Japanese flavor. I would 1000000% be back.
